John and I met at a conference in Paraguay. We sat next to each other and started talking about the miracles that God does. As he started talking the Holy Spirit went ‘BOINT!’ and I felt Jesus say, ‘This is your husband, this is your husband.’ (幻听)I have never felt this before, and I said, ‘O Lord, what are you telling me?’
We spent a week together during the conference. He didn’t think anything at all from a romance point of view. He just thought, ‘This is a really nice girl, really good company and maybe she could do well as one of the members of my crew,’ because he was going to make a film about the street children.
God said to me, ‘Just leave him in my hands. I’m going to bring him to Rio.’ (幻听)I just had so much peace. I knew he was to be my husband
Sure enough, a month later, his leader was going to come and teach in the favelas, but she broke her foot and so she asked him to come instead. And he came to Rio just the same week that I happened to be at the base. In that week God spoke to us.
A year before, John had had another relationship which had broken up. While talking to God about it, he had said, ‘Do you want me to get married?’ And God had said, ‘Yes, I want you to get married. I have someone for you.’ And God gave him a verse – Isaiah 61:3 – that says in English, ‘At the end of it all they will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for His glory.’ And ‘oaks’ in Portuguese is ‘carvalhos’, which is John’s last name. |
