Job descriptionThe International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3) is a new international organisation based in Bonn which has been set up by GIZ on behalf of the German Government. The ISC3 is an independent, international centre with its own branding and several hubs: a Research Hub at Leuphana University, an Innovation Hub at DECHEMA and a Regional Hub for North America at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Further hubs in Asia and Africa are planned.
The ISC3 develops and promotes sustainable chemistry solutions worldwide with a view to underpinning chemical safety and the management of chemical processes, and in a bid to pave the way for the global breakthrough of sustainable chemistry. It therefore has a significant part to play in achieving the Global Sustainability Goals set by the United Nations. The Centre operates as a global think tank and is intended to act as a catalyst for the international community, as an international knowledge platform, and as a driving force and proponent of innovation in sustainable chemistry.
Your tasks- Coordinating and developing the ‘Research and Innovation’ focus in an efficient manner in close coordination with the Managing Director and the Hubs
- Assisting in establishing the International Collaborative Centre and the other Hubs
- Ensuring the work of the ‘Research’ and ‘Innovation’ Hubs and the Regional Hubs yields results
- Coordinating the establishment of a start-up fund and worldwide start-up services with a dedicated business model evaluation system
- Initiating and devising innovations and new research projects in the field of sustainable chemistry based on observations and evaluations of current scientific and technical developments and trends
- Acquiring additional project funds for research and innovation
- Networking and cooperating with other key players and organisations worldwide and ensuring the transfer of knowledge and technology at national and international level
- Developing and maintaining a database and an atlas for sustainable chemistry
Your profile- A degree in chemistry, industrial chemistry, science, economics, process engineering or comparable courses of study
- Many years of professional experience in innovation, research and knowledge management, and knowledge and technology transfer
- Experience in human resources management, especially in interdisciplinary and international environments, and experience in cooperation with international organisations and planning of large-scale projects
- Experience in linking up key players and advising start-ups
- In-depth knowledge of the funding systems in place at national and international institutions
- A broad understanding of sustainable chemistry and the international debate
- Expertise in the operation and development of databases and information systems
- An interdisciplinary mindset, the ability to cooperate and work in a team, a high degree of initiative and a willingness to take responsibility
- Fluency in English, German and the knowledge of another foreign language is an advantage
