AGRICULTURAL EXPERT FOR THE GERMAN-SINO AGRICUL- TURAL CENTRE (DCZ) IN BEIJING IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH is an independent agricultural consulting company. We are active in Germany as well as abroad for both private and public clients and donors (www.iakleip- zig.de). Amongst others IAK is implementing projects under the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) Bilateral-Cooperation-Programme, namely the “ German-Ukrain- ian Agricultural Policy Dialogue” and the “German-Kazakh Agricultural Policy Dialogue”. To- gether with the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) (www.iamo.de) we are tendering for the implementation of the BMEL-funded “German-Sino Agricultural Centre (DCZ)”. Currently the tender process for second phase of the DCZ is running for an implementation from August 2017 until August 2019 (with an option for extension until August 2020). The DCZ which has existed since 2015 has the goal of strengthening the bilateral cooperation between China and Germany in the agricultural sector. Cooperation is facilitated using three dialogue platforms: 1) the agricultural policy dialogue, 2) the agricultural science dialogue and 3) the agriculture and food business dialogue. A fourth component is the PR work and networking of the project.
We are currently looking for a qualified candidate for the position of local agricultural expert.
Tasks: The local agricultural expert will support the team leader, particularly in the PR work and net- working. Depending on his or her strengths additional support functions or independent re- sponsibilities will be added to his or her tasks over the course of the project. Additional fields of responsibility may include: the organisation of short term expert missions, the correspond- ence and follow-up with Chinese project partners or quality control of studies commissioned by the project. Occasional translation and interpretation may be required.
Requirements: Higher education degree in agronomy, agricultural economics, resource management or a similar subject At least 5 years of work experience of which at least two in international projects Work experience in agriculture, rural development, natural resource management and/or climate change adaptation Excellent communication skills Fluent in Chinese and German (or English) Accordingly very good proficiency in English (or German) are an advantage Knowledge of the Chinese agricultural sector are an advantage
The place of work is Beijing and the contract will run presumably from September 1st 2017 for the entire implementation period. The DCZ is a project which is going through a public tender- ing process, hence the position can only be offered should IAK-IAMO successfully win imple- mentation.
