Sino-Dutch Biomedical and Information Engineering School (shorten for BMIE) of Northeastern University (shorten for NEU) is directly subordinated to NEU, which belongs to the first group of 211, 985 project universities in China, co-founded by NEU and TU/e (Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands), and sponsored by Philips Healthcare Inc. and Neusoft Medical Industries. BMIE is qualified to grant the Master degree and the PhD degree of Biomedical Engineering. The focus of the teaching and research is on the key research areas of Biomedical

Job Description:
The chief scientist is the leading academic scholar who will work with approximately 40 faculty and staff that will be up to 60, a student body of nearly 600 and will be up to 1,000. As the primary academic officer of the School, the chief scientist will assume a central leadership role in continuing development of the disciplines toward national eminence with a solid commitment to research and teaching. The chief scientist is responsible for improving and promoting the disciples in areas of instruction, research, fiscal management, development and personnel. He (She) also has responsibility to build up relationship with the university academic administration. As a member of senior academic and administrative team, the chief scientist reports to the Joint Management Committee of the School and works closely with Executive Deputy Dean, deans and directors on behalf of the School as a whole.
Academic Qualifications
The new candidate is expected to develop a focus in Medical Imaging and Medical Image Analysis, based on a strong collaboration with Industry partners both domestic and abroad. He or she is required to build up the faculty and researchers team, and raise funds on a national and international level, and to be part of the network of the international community of peers. An essential requirement is to publish the results of the research in international peer-reviewed journals, and to set up proper education at both Bachelor and Master Level for the field. The research should also leads to the hiring and coaching of a range of PhD students.
Leadership Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
A strong record of accomplishment as a scholar, coupled with a commitment to research as the foundation for learning, teaching, and practical application; Creative leadership and administrative experience in an academic setting, with proven results; Experience setting sound strategic priorities on academic development in challenging times; Capacity to advance the School's mission and interests within and outside the University while marshalling and distributing the resources necessary to focus the School's efforts; Readiness to support multi-disciplinary research that is consciously integrated with disciplinary research initiatives across the university; Recognition and encouragement of national and international partnerships to promote real world application of the School's academic innovations; A commitment and ability to lead substantial development and fund raising efforts and to enhance alumni relations; Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills and At least PhD degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or in a closely related field education background。
